Submission of an Application for a Private Sewer Construction Permit

In order for the owner of the premises to obtain a Permit for the construction or reconstruction or carrying out alterations, additions or repairs to its private sewer, he/she must submit the following documents and plans to the offices of the Nicosia District Local Government Organization:
  1. An application form completed and signed by the owner or co-owners of the premises, as specified in the ownership agreement.
  2. An updated* copy of the certificate of registration of the premises (title deed) or the contract specifying the owner of the premises
  3. Two updated* land plans showing the parcel to which the proposed development relates
  4. A copy of the water supply bill(s) for the premises.
  5. Two sets of drawings of all necessary floor plans of the construction, including:
    • The manholes for visitation or inspection,
    • the drains,
    • the pumping station (if applicable),
    • the grease skimmer (if applicable).
  6. If a pumping station is indicated, it shall be submitted:
    • the specifications of the pump to be used,
    • in the case of a block of flats, a second standby pump should be indicated.
  7. The permit fee and connection fee for the sub-station for which the application is made.
  8. If the premises, or part thereof, for which the application is made for the construction of a private sewer is used as a restaurant, or tavern, or fast food restaurant, or grill, or bakery, or pastry shop, or cafeteria, or café, or petroleum products sales station, or the use is such that it involves the preparation and sale of food, a grease skimmer must be indicated on the submitted plans.
* The date of the certificate of registration of the parcel and the land plan, to be submitted with the application, must be recent, relative to the time of filing the application, and both the certificate of registration and the land plan must contain all of the information on the plans, which are current, with the Department of Lands and Surveys.
License Fee and Right of Connection

The permit fee is €10 (ten euros) and the connection fee is €90 (ninety euros).

Therefore, the owner of the premises for which an application is submitted and for which a connection point is used to discharge waste water into the central sewerage system will pay a permit and connection fee of € 100 (one hundred euros).

Similarly, the owner of the premises for which two connection points are used for the discharge of waste water shall pay a permit and connection fee of € 190 (one hundred and ninety euros).
