Connection to the System

According to the Provincial Self-Government Organizations Act of 2022 (37(I)/2022), any owner or occupier of a premises used for human habitation, trade, commerce, business, employment, recreation or other purposes and located within a service area adjacent to a street on which there is a public sewer (50 meters from the property's property line), must within six months:

- construct at his own expense a private building sewer, in accordance with the terms of the Agency's permit
- connect the private building sewer to the public sewer,
- discharge all the waste water from his premises into the public sewer to the satisfaction of the Agency

Upon completion of the construction works in an area, the Agency shall publish the Notification of the connection of this area (by road) in the Official Gazette of the Republic. At the same time, it informs the residents of the affected area by letter of all the actions required to be taken to connect them to the Central Sewage Disposal System within the period of time specified in the Notification of Connection. An owner or occupant of a premises who, after six (6) months from the expiration of the Notice period, fails to connect the premises to the public sewer shall be subject to a charge.

To obtain a Private Sewer Construction Permit, the owner or occupant of a premises must, prior to any construction work, submit an EOA-S001 application to the Agency's service offices at 84 Athalassa Avenue, 2012 Strovolos from 8:30am to 1:45pm.

The Private Sewer Construction Permit shall be valid for a period of one (1) year. If the Private Sewer Construction Permit is not valid (1 year has elapsed) until the issuance of the Inspection Certificate, it must be renewed and the relevant fee paid.
