The District Local Governmental Organization is responsible, within the boundaries of the Nicosia district:
For the responsibilities assigned to it in relation to environmental planning and environmental management issues, as defined by the Provincial Local Government Authorities Act 2022,
For planning control and the enforcement of planning control, in accordance with the Planning and Zoning Law and for the implementation of the provisions of the Roads and Buildings Regulation Law and Regulations,
For the construction, maintenance and operation of water supply, sewage and storm water drainage systems and the operation of waste management facilities; and
To provide for the provision of a suitable and adequate supply of water for domestic purposes and to prohibit or regulate the supply or use of water for domestic purposes.
